This is a one of a kind piece of wearable art made for the Five and Diamond Eleventh Annual Headgear Art Show and shown on June 16, 2023 in San Francisco.
ARTIST: Love Khaos
LOCATED IN: Bali/SF
DESCRIPTION:
I'm thrilled to be participating in the Headgear Art show again. It's pure excitement for me, as I rarely have the opportunity to delve into something truly unique and engage in hands-on work that I'm passionate about. This year, I set specific parameters for my headpieces, both as a personal challenge and to ensure they meet the needs of the wearers. I aimed for gender-fluid designs, an attainable price point, incorporation of upcycled materials, alignment with the Animalia theme, ease of wear and transport, and versatility for both festival outfits and Friday night adventures. It’s no surprise that feathers and leather easily found their way into these intricate headpieces as they are beloved staples of my Love Khaos collections which made the materials easy to repurpose scraps from. Unable to choose between silver and gold, I decided to create one in each captivating hue. I present to you the Sahara headpiece, a unique adornment and expression of my artistry. May this piece accompany you, adding a touch of magic and joy, on the adventures that punctuate your life.
MATERIALS USED:
Feathers, Foiled Leather Scraps, Beads, Spikes, Chain, Charms, Rhinestones
WEARING INSTRUCTIONS:
Wearing Instructions: This piece can be worn several ways thanks to the clips. There are clasps on each side of the clips which make it modular in a sense. Its a face chain with or without the feathers, it can be just feathers without the face chain or you can remove the clips all together if you have short hair and prefer it without them. Depending on where you clip the clips in it can sit on different parts of your head or face. I recommend centering the chain at your nose and drape across face hanging behind both ears so it sits underneath your eyes. To secure it there clip the clips into hair closest to the scalp so they are hidden with the hair on top. This Care Instructions: Hang up when not wearing or lay flat so the feathers aren't squashed. To remove dirt, gently use compressed air in small bursts moving from the top of the feather to the bottom. To reshape a squashed feather use steam in small bursts, careful to not get the feathers properly wet.
