Alpenglow refers to indirect sunlight reflected or diffracted onto the slopes of mountains by the atmosphere after sunset or before sunrise. This diffuse illumination creates soft shadows in addition to the reddish color.

The naturally colored glass of this candle's vessel mimics the beauty of the alpenglow effect and is meant to be enjoyed as a drinking vessel once the candle is gone.
